2017 Spring: Martin Luther and his Galatians Commentary on the 500th Year Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (RELI 4088/6088)

Dr. Wayne Coppins

To mark the 500th year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (1517-2017), this course will grapple with the thought and biblical exegesis of Martin Luther.

We will start off the course by working through Oswald Bayer’s highly acclaimed book Martin Luther’s Theology: A Contemporary Interpretation and then turn to Luther’s own commentary on the Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Galatians (see here and here).

Special attention will be given to the interpretation of Galatians 2:15-21 in dialogue with modern interpreters of Paul.
